The Mt. Moriah Soup Kitchen was founded in 1983, 35 years ago by members of the congregation of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church to feed the hungry and disenfranchised of Camden and outlying communities.  Mt. Moriah served a few meals in the beginning and now serves a estimate of 1200 meals per month.  Over the past 33 years, not only has Mt. Moriah Soup Kitchen provided meals to many members of the community it has also provided training to organizations who also are committed to eradicating hunger in our community.

Mt. Moriah Soup Kitchen, operates under Mt. Moriah Outreach, Inc., a 501c3 not for profit, tax deductible organization, which is registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State.  Mt. Moriah Outreach, Inc. was organized in 2011.

The Soup Kitchen is located in the heart of downtown Camden, making it very accessible to people in need of a hot nutritious  meal year round.  Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are also served the Saturday before each holiday.

In 2009 Mt. Moriah Outreach, Inc. was pleased to provide training to Food for the Soul, who began serving meals to walk-ins from our location on Wednesdays, while awaiting the completion of their multi-purpose soup Kitchen/shelter, which is now in Operation Tuesday - Friday. Mt. Moriah also collaborated with Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Black River Rd.), in 2009. Through this collaboration the needs of the hungry were met through the preparing, serving, and delivering of meals from our location on the third Saturday of each month.
